About saltyoz

I’m Paul, a coastal photographer based on the Gold Coast. saltyoz is my quiet journal — a place for small stories, gentle humour, and the everyday beauty of the coast. I capture the moments that many miss in their busy day: the light, the tide, the unexpected characters, and the tiny surprises that make each day different.
Here you’ll find:
– Images from Burleigh and beyond
– Short stories about the small moments behind the images
– Longer reflections on returning to familiar places
– Tiny observations that become micro‑stories
– Collections curated by theme and mood
I’m not chasing perfection — just honesty, calmness, and the joy of noticing things. I’m more interested in the gentle adventure of the ordinary: the colour of the ocean after rain, the pause before a wave, the shape of a pandanus shadow, the way people carry themselves through familiar spaces, or the unexpected moment that makes you smile. saltyoz is where all of that lives.
saltyoz images offer a visual study of rhythm, light, and everyday stories along the coast — a place where calm observation meets a willingness to wander, experiment, and see what unfolds. My photographic journey begins in Burleigh, a coastline I return to again and again for its familiar paths, soft mornings, and the gentle rhythm of people moving through the day. But the work doesn’t stay in one place or one genre. It moves between ocean calm and surf energy, wide landscapes and quiet urban corners, animals and boats, quirky moments and simple lifestyle scenes.
If you enjoy calm imagery, small stories, and a sense of wandering without hurry, you’re in the right place. Take your time. Explore the galleries. Dwell a while. There’s always something new to notice.
